CaliciX™ Max is a high-strength systemic antiviral capsule formulated for cats suffering from severe, refractory, or high-viral-load Feline Calicivirus (FCV) infections, where standard-dose therapy of 15 mg is insufficient.

Each capsule contains 30 mg of pure EIDD-1931, the active antiviral metabolite, designed for systemic viral suppression in advanced disease states. This formulation is intended for use under veterinary supervision in cats requiring higher antiviral exposure due to disease severity, body weight, or poor response to conventional therapy.

Severe Oral and Oropharyngeal Disease

CaliciX™ Max is designed to support treatment of severe Feline Calicivirus (FCV) associated diseases, including:

Severe Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS) Caudal stomatitis with extensive caudal oral inflammation Ulcerative stomatitis unresponsive to dental extractions Deep lingual ulceration (viral glossitis) Multifocal buccal, labial, and palatal ulcersThese conditions are characterized by extreme oral pain, profuse drooling (ptyalism), difficulty eating or swallowing (dysphagia), weight loss and cachexia, and persistent halitosis and oral bleeding.

Systemic and Virulent FCV Disease

CaliciX™ Max may be considered in cases with evidence of high systemic viral burden, including:

Virulent Systemic Feline Calicivirus (VS-FCV) Feline Calicivirus (FCV) associated fever and severe lethargy Facial or limb edema Lameness Pulmonary involvement or pneumonia Hepatic or pancreatic enzyme elevation Severe inflammatory response with rapid clinical decline

Refractory or Relapsing Disease

Cats with persistent Feline Calicivirus (FCV) shedding Post-extraction Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS) with incomplete response Chronic stomatitis with repeated relapse after steroids or immunosuppressive therapy Large or obese cats requiring higher per-dose antiviral exposure

Why High-Strength CaliciX™

The EIDD-1931 in CaliciX™ is the active antiviral form and demonstrates substantially higher intrinsic antiviral potency than its prodrug, predictable systemic exposure without reliance on metabolic conversion, and broad activity against RNA viruses including calicivirus.

In severe Feline Calicivirus (FCV) disease, higher systemic concentrations may be required to rapidly reduce viral replication, suppress ongoing mucosal and systemic viral injury, and support recovery in cats with advanced inflammation and pain. The 30 mg strength allows veterinarians to achieve these targets with fewer capsules per dose, improving accuracy, compliance, and treatment feasibility.

Designed for Severe Cases and Larger Cats

CaliciX™ Max is particularly suited for:

Cats weighing 5 kg (11 lb) or more with severe disease Patients requiring greater than 6 mg/kg BID dosing Situations where multiple 15 mg capsules would otherwise be requiredThis strength supports step-up antiviral therapy while maintaining precise dosing control.

Precision Antiviral Therapy, When It Matters Most

CaliciX™ Max represents the highest-potency option in the CaliciX™ antiviral line, offering veterinarians a systemic antiviral tool for the most challenging calicivirus cases. When standard dosing is no longer enough, CaliciX™ Max provides a controlled, high-strength antiviral option designed to support stabilization, recovery, and improved quality of life in cats with severe Feline Calicivirus (FCV) disease.

For mild to moderate cases, including early ulcers, juvenile gingivitis, and gingivostomatitis with eating discomfort, standard CaliciX™ is the appropriate strength.

Dosage Instruction

Dosage Instructions

Administer one (1) capsule per 2.5 kg of body weight, given every 12 hours, preferably on an empty stomach. If vomiting occurs within 30 minutes, administer another capsule. Increase dosage within the recommended band only under veterinary direction.

CaliciX™ Max delivers 30 mg per capsule against 15 mg in standard CaliciX™, at the same weight bands. A cat moved from CaliciX™ to CaliciX™ Max therefore receives double the antiviral exposure per kilogram. This is intentional step-up therapy above 6 mg/kg twice daily, and the change should be made by a veterinarian, not by an owner.

Dosing Examples

• Example 1: a 2.0 kg cat with severe Feline Calicivirus (FCV) oral disease should receive one capsule every 12 hours.

• Example 2: a 4.6 kg adult cat with refractory Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS) should receive two capsules every 12 hours.

• Example 3: a 6.0 kg cat should receive three capsules every 12 hours.

Monitoring and Follow-Up

A complete blood count is recommended every 2 to 4 weeks during prolonged therapy, along with liver enzymes (ALT and AST) if combined with other systemic drugs, and monitoring of body weight and appetite. Regular monitoring allows your veterinarian to assess clinical response and determine whether continued treatment, dose adjustment, or discontinuation is appropriate.

Product Description

Active Ingredient: EIDD-1931 (beta-D-N4-hydroxycytidine), 30 mg per capsule, pharmacologically equivalent to approximately 133 mg EIDD-2801

Inactive Ingredient: Dibasic Calcium Phosphate, Magnesium Stearate

Form: Size #3 Capsules

Pharmacological Class: Direct-acting antiviral. Broad-spectrum RNA virus inhibitor. RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) mutagenic nucleoside analogue.

Mechanism of Action: EIDD-1931 is intracellularly phosphorylated to its active triphosphate form and incorporated into viral RNA during replication, causing accumulation of transition mutations, loss of viral genome integrity, and suppression of productive viral replication. The mechanism is host-independent and has a high genetic barrier to resistance.

Indications: Cats with severe or refractory Feline Calicivirus (FCV) associated disease, where standard-dose therapy at 15 mg is insufficient.

• Severe oral disease: severe Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS), caudal stomatitis with extensive caudal oral inflammation, ulcerative stomatitis unresponsive to dental extractions, viral glossitis with deep lingual ulceration, multifocal buccal, labial, and palatal ulcers

• Systemic and virulent disease: virulent systemic Feline Calicivirus (VS-FCV), fever and lethargy, facial and limb edema, lameness, pneumonia or respiratory compromise, hepatic or pancreatic inflammatory involvement

• Refractory or high-risk cases: post-extraction Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FCGS) with incomplete response, persistent Feline Calicivirus (FCV) shedding, relapsing disease following corticosteroids or immunosuppressants, large-body-weight cats requiring higher antiviral exposure

Specification: 60 capsules, each containing 30 mg of EIDD-1931

Dosage: 1 capsule every 12 hours for every 2.5 kg of body weight, preferably on an empty stomach. Standard high-dose range is above 6 mg/kg twice daily, veterinary directed.

Not Recommended Use:

• Pregnant queens at any stage, nursing queens, and breeding cats. EIDD-1931 has potential teratogenic effects and can harm developing kittens.

• Known hypersensitivity to nucleoside analogues.

• Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). CaliciX™ Max is formulated for Feline Calicivirus (FCV).

• Mild to moderate disease, where standard CaliciX™ at 15 mg is the appropriate strength.

Use With Caution: Hepatic impairment, renal disease (especially alongside NSAIDs), and long-term use beyond 12 weeks without monitoring. Avoid ribavirin. Immunosuppressants such as cyclosporine may reduce the immune response needed to clear the virus. Steroids may be used short term but should be tapered. Compatible with antibiotics, gabapentin, mirtazapine, maropitant, vitamin B12, and probiotics. Possible adverse effects include mild gastrointestinal upset and transient lethargy.

Length of Treatment: As directed by a veterinarian, based on severity and clinical response.

Storage: Store in a dry, cool place away from sunlight, below 25 degrees Celsius. Protect from moisture and light. Keep in original packaging until use.

Packaging: Each pack contains 60 capsules in a vacuum-sealed mylar bag. For cats weighing up to 2.5 kg, one 60 capsule pack covers 30 days. For cats weighing 2.5 to 5 kg, 120 capsules cover 30 days. For cats weighing above 5 kg, 180 capsules cover 30 days.

Expiration: 12 months

Regulatory Status: EIDD-1931 is not currently licensed for feline use, and no antiviral is approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of Feline Calicivirus (FCV). Intended for off-label veterinary application under professional supervision. Use requires informed consent from the animal owner. Formal feline pharmacokinetic studies for EIDD-1931 are ongoing, and dosing is based on translational data and clinical experience.
